A new journey is beginning...

We are only 2 days out from my scheduled c-section to welcome our second son to our family!

On pregnancy-
I am currently 38 weeks and 6 days pregnant. This pregnancy has been long and tiring. I started Braxton Hicks contractions around 28 weeks (which I never got with Easton). They have been intense, painful, and physically and mentally exhausting.  I had one evening spent monitored at labor and delivery but Mr. Drew decided he is content in there and wants to stay put- causing mommy lots of discomfort. Not being able to sleep and heartburn round out the fun things happening right now. After being told that i would more than likely deliver pre- term, we have been ready for such a LONG time now. I am trying my best to enjoy this last week with Easton, our last one just him and I!

Someone wanted to try out the crib again.

Kasey manged to sneak her way into Easton;s nursery pics too.

Don't mind our hospital bags packed in there ;-)

On Easton-
Easton's current favorite things:

  • Saying "I can do it!!" and throwing a fir if you don't let him. Getting dressed in the morning and getting ready for bed takes just a bit longer now!
  • His new backyard swing set. He would swing for hours if you let him. Literally, hours!
  • Books, books, and more books!
  • Throwing rocks outside. I was told Daddy and Papa did this too all the time as kids.
  • Loves to eat fruit- current favorites, grapes and cantaloupe.
  • The jelly beans he gets when he pees on the potty ( not every time, mind you.) Doing any #2 business on the potty STILL is not happening!
  • Being outside, absolutely loves it! Especially if he can ride his little four wheeler he got for Christmas.
  • Animals, especially dogs.
  • Hugging and kissing "baby Drew"

Easter morning, hunting eggs after church with Daddy.

Seeing Papa's new puppy.

Hanging out with his cousins. (in actuality, they are looking for eggs).

Stayed tuned for Drew's birth story and the beginning of a new chapter of our lives as a family of 4!

Easter Egg fun

Today, Easton and i tried a new way to " paint" Eggs - a very toddler friendly version! ( thank you Pinterest)

All we (I) did was put shaving cream in aluminum foil tins and put some drops of food coloring in each one. I swirled the shaving cream a little with toothpick to spread out the color. Then, just place the hard boiled egg in and roll around! After letting the egg sit with the shaving cream and color on it for about 15 minutes, I wiped them off with a paper towel. I think they turned out really pretty! And Easton's and I hands are every color under the rainbow, presently.

Rolling in the shaving cream

Letting them sit - aren't they cool looking like this?!?!?

Finished product!

Swim lessons

Easton has officially started his first class/sport- mommy and me(ok, parent and me) swim lessons at the local YMCA. The class is only 2 weeks (every night of the week!) but it has been quite interesting! Easton, while not truly having a fear of the water, has been so cautious about what he does during class. He is one of oldest in the 6 months-3 year class. They have been working on things like blowing bubbles, kicking, going under water, splashing, hanging on the side, chasing toys,  and jumping in.  Easton is NOT a fan of going under and spent the first couple classes crying after being dunked. We are slowly making progress on that! As for jumping in - he does more of a fall in holding my hands ( and I have been managed to dip his head under when he does lol. He doesn't seem to mind/notice.) And there has been absolutely no blowing bubbles from him! His favorite part? Throwing the balls in the basket at the end of class. That he LOVES and excels at!

One day last week, his third class, Daddy went in with him and i got to take some pictures! (Mom and baby Drew LOVE the warm water of the therapy pool!!!)

And yes, he is the whitest kid in the pool :)

Easton's 2nd Birthday

In the blink of an eye, Easton has turned two. (How many times can I say in this blog that time is flying?!?!?!)

As we did last year, we celebrated over lunch on his birthday with just me and his daddy. Cake, Pizza, presents, what else do a 2 year old need? And as of his 2 year appointment, Easton still weighs in under 30 lbs at 29 lbs. and at the present time, I lost the paper with his height on it but I think he was around 34 inches.Give or take , I guess. :) His vocabulary is astounding and the doctors have no concerns for him. We did have to get an echo-cardiogram done to listen to an innocent (so far) heart murmur he has had since he was born. We are waiting( anxiously) for the results!

He has been sleeping in a big boy bed (twin) for about 2 weeks now and has really transitioned well! He really likes laying in it and he is beyond ecstatic when one of the dogs decides to join him!

Potty training is also progressing.... slowly. Seriously though, he has done fantastic with this! We still have a couple accidents here and there and I haven't had him wear undies out in public yet . Although I must say, pooping in the potty is a whole different story all together! That has not really happened so we are thankful for pull ups!

Baby brothers room is all painted and has the crib set up. All its needs are some window treatments, closet doors, some odds and ends...and the baby! Who, as of last time, has a name! We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Andrew Wyatt, or just Drew. Easton loves going into baby Drew's room and touching all of this things! ( Do diapers really come that tiny again?!?!?)

Presents from us in his pjs!

Woke up to balloons above his crib

Christmas into a New Year

2014 has come to a close and now we have a 3 1/2 -4 month cold winter wait until baby #2 gets here - and SPRING!

We had family come stay with us for Christmas this year and it proved to be a very eventful week - most of us (including Easton) got the stomach flu. And a huge winter snow storm hit!

Christmas Eve with Easton

New Year - back at home with Mom. All day. Every Day. At least we have lots of new toys to play with! As much as i wanted winter to come this year, i think we may be getting cabin fever ( with wind chills in the -'s a lot of days, going out isn't an option for little ones!)

And the potty training has started in full force. Prior to Christmas we practiced using the potty, still using diapers. WE have switched to undies during the day at home and it has been a battle of wills between E and I. He will go on the potty ok but wants a million treats and snacks when finished. I keep repeating - pick your battles, pick your battles! Although he looks darn adorable in his little undies! And the new bed is finally getting put together this weekend - so much change!

In other news, today is Easton's 2nd birthday! I will post a birthday post after his doctor appointment next week!
